Harry HaftFormer Belchatower to be in National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame

National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame 74 Hauppauge Road - Commack, NY 11725 - Tel: 631-462-9800 The Suffolk Y JCC is an agency of UJA Federation and affiliated with JCC Association Harry will be attending along with many members of his family. Harry Haft was only 16 when he was sent to the concentration camps. He was forced to fight other Jews in bare knuckle bouts for the entertainment of S.S. officers. Ultimately, escaping the camp, Harry traveled to America and became a pro boxer. Harry now lives in Pembroke Pines, Florida. His story of survival and his boxing career (he fought Rocky Marciano in 1948), written by his son Alan, has been published by Syracuse University Press. Click here to read more about the book.
