Various tables in the sources used different
numbering systems. It is important to note
that the numbers on this chart were the official numbers by which the colonies
were referred, often without mentioning the actual names. Thus the Jews
referred to Novozlatopol as Perver Numer as it was No. 1 and Mezritch as 'Ferter
Numer' as it was No.4. rather than use the official names. -Chaim Freedman
