Letters from Lida - 47

Translated by Lena Gorina-Black

Dear children!

Frida sent you a letter recently, but I did not have a chance to write you. Now I wrote a letter to Manfred’s father again, and again do not know if you will like it – it is hard on me. You know how hard is for me to lie, yet to write the truth is not appropriate, that is why the letter is not coming out the way it should. I imagine how tired you are with so many guests. It is better if you have a good maid, but even a the good maid you have to work hard. Have you had a little rest?  They write in the newspapers that you have very hot weather, and over here it is still very cool, yesterday we even fired the stove to bathe Frida’s girl.. Thank God, she’s become a wonderful child, she walks already and tries to get everywhere, but does not speak yet, although understands everything. You write that you sent Lisa a letter, but I think you didn’t have her address. Did you move already to another apartment and do you like it? Is it in a big place with a lot of people? On Trinity we expect Lisa with her husband. Are you planning to come here this summer? It would be great, you would be able to rest well, and at the same time would bring us a lot of happiness. How is Manfred doing? He also needs some rest. I would love to see X (1) very much, we talk about her often. Be you all healthy, kissing you with love, Your loving mama Revekka.

From other letters, Gitel Trotsky was born about 1934. If she’s walking, this letter must be from about 1935.
