Letters from Lida - 48October 17
Fanechka, my dear!
Couple of days ago we received your letter that you sent us
with Fainstein, also a seder <package?> and photos. Fanechka, dear, I beg
you not to do such silly thing any more and not to spend your money. I ask you
very much, do not even think about sending parcels anymore, I am sorry that you
are spending money on it, you could spend it on something of substance. Don’t
be upset with me Fanechka, but you’re like a child in this regard. Now is not a time to spend money on silly
things, you better buy yourself a pair of shoes or something else and we would
be very glad. Fanechka, I repeat one more time,
even if you have a very good way to send us something, I am asking you
very strongly not to send us anything and not to spend even one <unclear,
peset?> on such silliness. I
personally did not visit Fainstein yet, it is not appropriate to see him right
after arrival, he must be horribly tired, but Mama and Papa visited him on
Friday night. We did not find out much from him, as you understand we were
interested only in you, we were even interested in what you were wearing. And
about you personally he did not tell us much, only that you looked happy and
content. Fanechka, I wanted to write you
a long time ago that I don’t have a good feeling about your job, so try somehow
to get a job in the city, not in a village. Maybe Krupskie <meaning a family
named Krypsky> could help you. As for Kuren’s <?> sister, you know
that I don’t like them at all. You know that I despise this <unclear>.
But if you like it, you possibly could find a good place. May God give you luck
in all your endeavors. Try to find something in
