Letters from Lida - 51

Translated by Lena Gorina-Black

August, 9, 192? [could be 5 or 8] <Yiddish or Hebrew>

Dear Fanechka!

First, how is your health? You know I am really upset with you. How you are not ashamed to remind me just to send you a postcard to Lida? I hope to see you and to tell you everything in person but you suddenly are upset with me when you really have to ask for forgiveness. Tell me, how dare you  be in Palestine and not fly to me, to stay and rest with me? After all, we are not the strangers to each other and could find something to do. And you are sitting and don’t give me any sign of life for couple of weeks, and I even don’t know where to look for you. Fanka is here and is not with me! Well, now if you want to know anything about me you have to come for the New Year, and if not then you are not yourself, God is my witness. You will rest, we will talk about anything we want, and then maybe will do something. Mama and Papa also ask you to come very much. Really, you will be a piglet if won’t come. I have my separate room. Fanya, remember that I am not going to write about myself, just not capable of, only <if> you will come. Well, Fanya, to see somebody from Lida, especially you! Don’t you wish to have the wings <to come>? I don’t have any letters from the girls. Nothing I could do about it. Farewell. I will see you soon. Write me when you leave. Don’t even think about refusing me.

Because the end of the letter is missing, we don't know who wrote this. The year might be 1925 as well as 1928; it's hard to tell
