My dearest!

It is true that I did not write you for a long time. When I get up in the morning I read a newspaper to see what is going on over there and my hairs stand on end. Every day there are new victims and when will there be an end to it?  Fanechka, my dear, with such support in America, you have to try to leave for a few years until everything calms down in Palestine. In my opinion, because you have this opportunity, you should use it. Here it is a horrible crisis, too. There is no future here but I am not thinking about Palestine anymore. Meilach is making our living but I am not happy with it. I often think about the future. Fanechka, maybe you could get support from Manfred’s uncle Sinter <?> for me to go to some other country? I am eager to leave and I have a great desire to <open a business and> make some money. I heard that he has great connections. If you feel uncomfortable to ask for yourself, ask for me, maybe it will help us to find a way. Anyway, if it is at all possible write me and we will discuss it.  What is about you?

Dorochka, I am happy that you are having a good time. But, Dorochka, I know you, you have to take care of yourself and eat well if you have what to eat. Be careful not to lose your health early in life. You are still so young and you have everything in the future. Gitele, thank God, is developing very well. When she turns 4 years old, I will have her picture taken. I have an inflammation of the throat again, and I asked and got  radiation  treatment from Kaech-Chovech <Polish?>. It has to be done once every three weeks and I receive it free, even with free ride.  I already did it one time and have to do it 6 times in all. It seems to be helping and am very happy about it. At home everything is the same. Dorechka, why did you let Fanya send a parcel, you know yourself that it will be expensive, and as you were sending it, you should put in X’s (1) old clothes

<end of the File 57b>

 Gitele was born in 1934, from other letters, so that places this letter in 1938.

 (1) Name of Fanya’s child removed for privacy reasons.
