Letters from Lida - 103

April 24, 1941

My dear Ones, today I got your dear letter dated January 1, 1941. One can well say that it was en route a bit too long. The main thing is, you’re healthy. May it be so for all of us for the next 120 years. Last Monday Martin started work. I am very happy about it, the managers haven’t agreed on his salary yet.  It’ll be Shabbos soon, therefore I’m closing. I haven’t heard anything from Spiers for 7 weeks.

 All the best today

In a rush, cordial greetings and kisses

Your true Ruthy

My Dears,

You’ve already learned from Ruthy that I’ve got a job. It corresponds to my field of study, and so I have not been totally derailed. I like the things I’m doing, hopefully the success, that is the salary, will be commensurate.  The feeling of having steady employment is very satisfying and helps us overlook some difficulties. – I am not employed as a teacher (I tell you this, so you don’t misunderstand), but work at a company in this town. We are thus perfectly satisfied here and often see Erica and Lotte.

Hopefully we’ll here something good from you soon.

Be cordially greeted by your Martin
