In
mid-2006, Marv Brooks became aware of a bundle of letters from family
in Lida being offered up for sale on one of the large commercial
e-auction sites. With contributions from several Lida
District
Researchers, he arranged for the purchase of these letters.
The letters are mostly to sisters Dora and Fanya Pupko, who emigrated
from Lida to Palestine in the 1920s. A few of them are in German, to
Fanya's husband Manfried Liebermann, as well as some others that must have been forwarded to him. Over the years, the
letters
became quite disorganized, so much so that it was difficult to decide
from which end in the box to start! As more of them are
translated, I'm improving the order - unfortunately
many of the letters are not dated.
