In 1928, Lipniszki was designated as miasteczko (small city) and gmina wiejska (parish town), council office for the surrounding communities, in the First Uchastok, Lida powiat, Nowogrodskie voevodstvo of Poland. The Justice of the Peace and the Justice Court were in Wilno. The 1928 population was 1,061. The railway station was 4 kilometers away in Gawja on the Lida-Moldeczno line. The post office and telephone were in Lipniszki. Lipniszki had one Catholic church, one synagogue, and mills. Markets were on Thursdays for merchandise of all sorts. Fair dates: 1 Jan, 5 Mar, 19 June, 16 July, 27 July, and 9 Sept.

In 1968, there were about 60 Jewish families. Two Jewish cemeteries survived.

In 1928, Scicanie was designated as a wies (village) in the First Uchastok, Lida powiat, Nowogrodskie voevodstvo of Poland. The Justice of the Peace was in Lipniszki and the Justice Court in Wilno. The 1928 population was 518. The railway station was 4 kilometers away Gawja on the Lida-Moldeczno line. The post office and telephone were in Lipniszki and telegraph in Gawja. Mackiszki had "poleckiszki" [meaning unknown], brickworks, and mills.
