In the message: address the message to: Anna
Przybyszewska-Drozd.
This organization has lists of survivors and victims and other
documents that might have information about your family. In his
talk to the genealogy conference in Washington, D.C. in July
2003, Yale Reisner, director of the project, pointed out the
difference between survivors' lists in his office in Warsaw and
other survivor lists, including those at the U.S. Holocaust
Memorial Museum in Washington.D.C. He stated that the lists in
Warsaw were compiled soon after the War, when survivors wanted
to be found and gave the most complete and accurate information
about themselves. He stated that as time went by, some
survivors' lives had taken some turns that occasionally inclined
them to be less forthcoming about their personal information.
Perhaps they married a non-Jew or changed their name, etc.
If you don't get an answer, try again in a few months. I spoke
with Ms. Przybyszewska-Drozd at the conference in Washington,
and she told me that if they don't have information on a person
who is the subject of an inquiry, they don't answer, due to the
heavy volume of inquiries. Knowing that, I would re-send every 6
months because they do get new information all the time, as do
all the institutions. Besides Holocaust related information,
this office has many documents pertaining to Jews from all over
Poland.

The Hall of Names has Pages of Testimony submitted by someone who
knew a particular person. (I have seen pages of Testimony for some
victims from Rzeszow submitted by a rabbi who did not know each
person, but whose personal mission, while he worked at Yad Vashem,
was to be sure that as many victims as possible be remembered. He
found their names on various lists.) The Archive may have other
information. E-mail (or mail) them to find out the fee for obtaining
information.
