Borshchev Plaque

Return to Memorials to the Martyrs of Skala Who Perished in the Holocaust page

The translation of the plaque dedicated to the martyrs of Skala at the site of the mass grave in Borszczow, Ukraine is:

M O N U M E N T
In memory of the thousands of martyrs of
Borshchov [Borszczow in Polish] Skala, Ozieran [Jezierzany]
Korolovka, Mielnica, Krivch [Krzywcze] and surrounding
villages, who were murdered in the Spring of 5703 (1943)
by the Nazi Germans and their collaborators, Y’SH*
and were buried in a mass grave in this
field, formerly the site of the Jewish cemetery that was destroyed.
May God avenge their pure blood!
May their souls be bound up in the bond of life.
Erected in 1991 on the initiative of the survivors of these
Communities.

*Y’SH is a Hebrew acronym for a curse that means “May their names be erased forever.”
