ABRAHAM and LAYA BERLIN
great-great-grandparents of Jack Stevens
Here's what Jack tells us about this photo:
This is a photo of my Great Great Grandparents Abraham and Laya Berlin
of Skalat. It was taken before 1898. Their daughter, Sarah
Berlin, came to
NYC via Ellis Island in 1898.
The Berlins traded in leather goods and they
owned the seltzer factory in nearby Pidvolochisk. According
to the Yizkor books from Pidvolochisk, the entire Berlin family in
the area except one man
were killed in the holocaust.
