Report on a trip to Tolstoye4850 (Tluste)

by Mike Bratter

Tluste is quite an organized town compared to the other places in Ukraine I visited. It's more prosperous, I say this because the modern clothing I noticed the residents wearing and the well maintained condition of their homes. They even have a museum there. They dedicated one small section of the museum to the Jews that used to live there. I met with the curator and another man who witnessed the massacre of the Tluste Jews in 1943. They told me that the Jews lived wherever they pleased in the town and were respected by the non-Jews of the town. [Please also see the report on Mike's trip to Khorostkov.]
