Wieluń, Poland

The following photographs, taken during his visit to Wieluń in 2008,

are shown with the kind permission of Yaakov Reshef.

The above pictures show views of "a building on the corner of Prezedmiescie

and Targowa Streets", which featured an interior yard, with a water well."

Of the pictures seen above, Yaakov says, "We met an old woman who lives in this house (above, left), one of only 25% of the town's buildings that survived the war.  Later, her son came home from work.  The woman and her son remembered the name of the landlord, but could not recall any well in the yard.  Suddenly, we saw a heavy metal pipe hidden in the grass in a corner of the yard.  I cleaned the area and found the faucet of the old well.  When we showed this to the old lady, she remembered that, yes, many years ago, this was the well they had used."
