1793-1917 - Itel was a village in Russian Empire.

Since 1801 - Itel was a village in Bobruisk District of Minsk Empire, owned by Bulhak noble family.

1833 - after the Emperor permitted Jews to live in the rural area and to work in agriculture, Jewish agricultural colony was founded in Itel.

1858 218 No info Both sexes No info
1898 291 170 Both sexes 63.1%

Jewish Life

In 1833, after they got the permission to live in rural area and to work on land, some Jewish families from that area mostly rented the land from the Itel owner nobleman Bulhak and moved there.

In 1898 there were 270 Jewish peasants in Itel, who rented for money about 130 hectares of land. 21 local Jews were busy in non-agricultural sphere: trade and business.

At the end XIX - early XX century there were 2 praying houses in Itel.

Economic Review

Traditional activities of local population were agriculture, chopping of wood and fishing. Since early time Dobosna river was the main road for local habitants.

During Russian principality the authorities did a lot to develop the region because of military and fiscal reasons mostly. First of all, old road Mohilev - Bobruisk was reconstructed.

In XIX, because of development of the All-Russian Market, new types of communications appeared in the area in 1873. Construction of the railroad and highways provoked new increase of development of local settlements. But it did not rapidly effect the development of Itel, because it was an agricultural settlement and the railway station was far from it. That was why it took long enough time to involve local habitants in market economy environment.

In 1880 there were about 40 wooden houses in Itel.

Since 1873 to 1917 the closest railway station was 40 km afar from the Village in Bobruisk.

It seems that there were no significant particular enterprises in Itel before 1917.

In 1909 there were 64 wooden houses in Itel.
