Juden in Rumanien, Arthur Ruppen, pub. by L. Lamm, 1908 (in German), 40 pps. Includes population numbers for 32 Romanian cities in 1899. Botosani had the largest Jewish population at 9,784 with Dorohoi in 2nd place at 7632.

Pinkas Hakehillot Romania - Encyclopedia of Jewish Communities in Romania, Vol 1, [Moldavia & S Transylvania] published 1969, (776 pages) by Yad Vashem is part of the Jewishgen Yiskor Book Project with online English translations for Bucecea, Botosoni, Dorohou, Frumusica. Printed versions of this volume in Hebrew are available in many major libraries with large Jewish collections.

US Library of Congress The Romanian collections at the Library of Congress include about 40,000 works related to Romania with many serial publications. Most works are in the Romanian language, with approximately 10% in English. You cannot browse the catalogue online but you can search for town names, surnames, etc. There are very few works related specifically to Botosani. The Online Romanian Directories includes a list of outside websites (Portals to the World) which includes a Genealogy Section with several Jewishgen listings!

Dorohoi "Anthology of the Dorohoi Country Since The 15th Century" - after WW II, this county was combined with Botosani County. Romanian Title: "Generatii de Judaism si sionism: DOROHOI (+Saveni, Mihaileni, Darabani, Herta, Radauti-Prut)" English Title: "Generations of Jewishness and Zionism: DOROHOI (+Saveni, Mihaileni, Darabani, Hertza, Radautz-Prut)" Redactor and Coordinator: Shlomo David. 5 Volumes, about 3,500 pages together, bilingual (Romanian + Hebrew).

Stefanesti There is a monograph about Jewish life in Stefanesti called "Stefanesti: Portrait of a Romanian Shtetl" authored by Ghitta Sternberg and published by Pergamon Press in 1984.
