On a plateau at the foot of Gruga and Sinoui Mountains, Breaza has
been famous for its healthy climate since 1928, although its curative powers
were known since 1431. From 1842- 1850, Brazea had a customs house. Manor
houses built by the Cantacuzini still can be seen today. Grigore Basarab
Brancoveanu restored "Parc" Castle at the end the nineteenth century. Brazea,
with sulfur springs awarded a prize in 1873, also is known for its folkdance
and costumes for it called "Breaza embroidered blouses." During the past
several years, Breaza developed over five hundred modern chalets. The current
town population is 19,035.
