A number of families on this list are recorded as residing in Andreyev.  This was a village 9 miles from Ritavas where a number of Jewish families  lived at one time.  For all religious and cultural matters, they were connected to Ritavas.  They were mainly traders and farmers.   The Yiddish name for the village was Andriava, and the present Lithianian name is Andriejavas or Andrius.

A number of other families are recorded as having "come from abroad".  It is not clear what was meant by the Russian phrase that has been so translated.  It may have meant that they came from outside the Pale (e.g Latvia), or from another guberniya.
