Plaque at the Bajorai Killing Site
The Jews from the Rokiskis district were murdered at Bajorai, also known as Velniaduobe. The inscription is written in two languages, Lithuanian and Yiddish,
and has been translated for us by Regina Kopilevich.
The plaque reads "In this place Hitlerists and their local helpers on August 15
and 16, 1941 cruelly killed 3207 Jews - children, women, men. Let the memory of them
be blessed."

This information is gathered from several JewishGen Databases. Thanks to the efforts of Holocaust researcher Peter Lande and his volunteers, we are able to look at the translated information from the Captured German Records Collection,
which is housed at the United States National Archives in College Park, MD. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum purchased copies of these many reels of microfilm, which prompted this project.

Sharit Ha-Platah Information
|
|
Sharit Ha-Platah
, which translates into English as "Holocaust Survivors" or literally as "Counted Remnant", was published in 1946 by the "Central Committee of Jews in Bavaria", in Munich, Germany and contains the names of 61,387 Jews who survived the Holocaust.
Most of these names were collected by Chaplain (Rabbi) Abraham Klausner, who visited many of the camps in southern Germany where survivors had gathered in late 1945 and 1946. For more information on this collection go to the JewishGen
explanation.
