Important Information for Travel to Yurburg (Jurbarkas, in Lithuanian)

• Please note that there is not a single Jew left living in Yurburg. It is located about one hour travel to the west of Kaunas (Kovno) on the beautiful Neiman River.
• The Jewish cemetery remains one of the very few in good condition in any small town in Lithuania. It lies to the east of town. Located at the same spot is the Memorial and the Mass Murder site of hundreds of Jews of Yurburg. Click here for more information and the list of identified headstones in the cemetery. Currently a project to renovate the cemetery is underway and the first stages have begone. If you would like to contribute, please contact Gary Schumann at Miamiflusa@aol.com. You may see evidence of fence reconstruction starting in fall 2006. The intention is to work with the town of Jurbarkas to renovate and preserve this important site. We have just begun and welcome any help.
