Jakubowski and Elkins
As described by Michael Bloom: My paternal grandfather came from Bocki in 1903 and my
paternal grandmother from Jakubowskie, very small village about 2.5 miles northwest of Bocki,
in 1909 or 1911. Grandfather's name was Yechiel Chessler, or Tzesler, becoming Louis Bloom
in Boston, MA in the US. Grandmother was Pearl Jacobs in the US.
This first photo is for the surnames Jakubowski and Elkins. The photo is of some of my relatives
posing in a family orchard, probably in Jakubowskie. The woman standing in the back row, second
from the right is Peryl Jakubowski (Pearl Jacobs), my father's mother, who probably lived in
Jakubowskie. The other relatives are all Elkins cousins, likely from Kleschele: Rear left to right:
Pearl's older sister Sarah married to Morris Elkins (next in line), followed by Chusa Jakubowski,
Pearl's next sister. The children in the front row, left to right, are all Sarah and Morris's children:
Jake (Jacob Elkins), Harry, Rubin (lived in Waltham, Mass. in USA), Sam, and a daughter
possibly named Ceila who was killed by the Russians at the time of the Russian Revolution.
