Subject: Preservation of America's Monuments Abroad
Thanks to the information provided to JewishGen's
    International Jewish
Cemetery Project by the U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America's

Monuments Abroad, I have learned about the shtetl which my paternal
grandfather listed as his birthplace. My grandfather listed the town of
Orekhov, Ukraine on his naturalization papers
    as his birthplace. Outside
of locating this place on a map, I have found almost nothing on this
town. To my delight, however, I just read a detailed description of
Orekhov and its two cemeteries, along with
    contact information, on the
cemetery web page for Jewish cemeteries of Ukraine. This information was
provided by the U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America's
Monuments Abroad. The Cemetery Project web site lists these countries as
having information from this Commisssion available:
Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Ukraine.

The Cemetery Project home page is at:

    http://www.jewishgen.org/cemetery/
I suggest that all of the SIGs for these countries
    should be sure to
mention this information on their web sites.
