        Note: One of the photos
posted with the above article shows the marketplace of a different town,
Gruzdziai, which is near the northern border of Lithuania. The name
"Gruzdziai" is printed on the photo.

        Hebrew
University, Center for Jewish Art, contains a webpage regarding an
        1861 Hebrew
newspaper, Ha-Carmel (March 15, 1861), reporting on the "new wooden
synagogue in Gargzdai." The location of the town set forth in the
newspaper article (between Shawel [Siauliai] and Zager [Zagare])
        describes Gruzdziai (Lat.
56°06´, Long. 23°16´) not Gargzdai, so presumably the name גורזד
in the article refers to Gruzdziai not Gorzd.
